May I speak frankly? I am stating a fact when I say that I have been to many a fabulous event and soirée – in many of the world’s most desirable locations.

However, I clearly had not seen fabulousity (© KLS) on a Russian scale – which seems to be equal to jurassic, baller-ific proportions…and I remain humbled.

My initial review of the Beyond Party event website immediately raised the bar and I realized that we may not be in Kansas anymore:

popstar performances?

celebrity deejay?

thematic imagery?

multi-time zone celebration?

Arriving at the private beachfront Beyond Villa on the outskirts of Phuket, Thailand, greeted by staff bearing French champagne and escorted to a room filled with a covetous array of party favors & accessories (that I really should have kept)…impressive.

My humble vocabulary is inadequate to capture the truly epic stature of the evening. But here are the highlights:
  • Brit pop princess Sophie Ellis-Bextor brought her entire band & her “A” game – even though she was clearly preggers! She performed all of her top 10 dance hits, including “If This Ain’t Love” & “Murder On The Dance Floor”. Not to mention that she was lovely with killer cheekbones, friendly and her band was TIGHT! All of this with the gorgeously-lit, crashing waves of the Andaman Sea as backdrop.

  • American R & B Diva, Kelly Rowland, formerly of grrl group Destiny’s Child, and her 5 muscle-clad dancers brought heat (FIYAH!) to the tropical locale. She did a short set that ran through her parts on Destiny’s Child’s greatest hits, including anthem “Survivor” as well her 2011 single “Like This” (see video below). She ran it, twerked it, shook it and twirled – on pitch, while never missing a single beat! WERK!

  • I’m still not sure how to describe this dance/acrobatic performance. It was so grandiose, so theatrical, so fierce that all I could do was gasp in awe, drop to my knees in homage screaming “WE ARE NOT WORTHY”. It was like Paradise Garage meets Cirque du Soleil and took me straight back to my Sound Factory roots. I know that the troupe hailed from Spain, but that’s it. If anybody can tell me, leave it in the comments below.

  • Intergalactic Fashion show with scores of stunning Eastern European models stomping up a storm in heaven-high heels.

Ever Fly Ms Q enjoying fashion show (and hydrating)
  • Precision catering deliciously provided by Phuket’s pre-eminent Italian Chef, Alessandro Frau of Acqua Restaurant fame. Backing him up was his gorgeously-attired team bearing copious amounts of Gosset & Dom Perignon champagne. (bless them)
