I have a confession to make – I’ve become a bit frustrated living in my tropical paradise of Phuket. As much as I adore eating at hidden Thai gems, from market stalls to noodle shops, my “grand” side needs to be fed occasionally (or frequently, depending how you look at it). And nothing thrills me more than thoughtful delicious cuisine prepared by a chef passionate about his craft paired seamlessly with well-crafted wines.

Recently I had the enormous pleasure of attending the Dinner with Attitude, with Pascal Jolivet at the luxurious Pavilions, Phuket.

Each delicious course was thoughtfully prepared by Pavilion’s unassuming, yet food-passionate, Chef Alec Lomas & his competent team. And were perfectly paired with the glorious, beautifully-crafted wines of Pascal Jolivet

Now you know that Ms Q doesn’t take dining lightly – this evening has officially been entered onto my (short) list of superlative dining experiences alongside Daniel, NYC; Trippini, Umbria and La Colombe D’or, South of France.

From the gracious hospitality of the Pavilion’s management, to the professional service of the dining room team and the effortlessly chic, yet casual, ambiance; coupled with a stunning view and flawless wine/food pairings – Pavilions has set the bar high for how to conceive and execute a stellar wine dinner. Phuket F & B professionals – the gauntlet has been thrown.

My only regret is that I didn’t remember to take a pic of each course – because I kept eating them before it occurred to me! (scroll down to see full menu) But my absolute fave was the Kusshi Oysters – Deep Bay, British Columbia sour pearls and yuzu gelée served with a Pascal Jolivet Sancerre Blanc Clos du Roy – stunning!
